From the west (Portimão/Lagos)

N.B. The east-west motorway was redesignated the A22 during 2002 but not all signs have been changed. In some cases it is still shown as the IP1 or the IC4.
a) As you leave Faro airport, follow the signs to the A22 (or IP1) motorway, the main east-west highway which links the Algarve to Spain.
b) After 3 kilometres, follow the signs to the motorway to Lisbon (Lisboa), Portimão and Loulé. This takes you on to the main N125 heading north, away from Faro.
c) After a further 4.5 kilometres bear left, continuing to follow the signs to the A22/IP1; the right fork is the N125 to Almancil.
d) After a further 3.5 kilometres, join the A22 motorway; follow the signs to Lisbon, Portimão and Albufeira. After 22 kilometres you pass the intersection where the new motorway from Lisbon (A2) joins the A22.
e) Stay on the motorway for a further 14 kilometres, until the Alcantarilha exit.
f) When you come off the motorway you come to a big roundabout. Take the second exit again following signs to Lagos, Portimão and Lagoa. This is the main "A" road , the N125.
g) Follow this road for about 3 km, past the "Aqualand" water park, past a right turning to Fte Matosa, past the "Ti Tereza" restaurant on the right, until you reach a junction signposted right to Fte Matosa and left to "acesso local". Turn right.
h) Follow the road for two kilometres, passing under the new motorway. At the end of this you come to a T-junction, signposted left to Lagoa, right to Silves. Turn left.
i) Follow this quite windy road for just over a kilometre and turn right on to a gravel road just before you reach the viaduct of the new motorway. There is a bus stop, a red postbox and a lot of letter boxes by the house on the corner. Signpost to "Casa das Oliveiras" pointing right.
j) Go up the gravel road, over a stream, ignoring the first turning on the right, until you reach a narrow bridge over a canal. Turn right immediately after crossing the canal, before the small house called "Casa Viana". Signpost to "Casa das Oliveiras" pointing right. "Casa das Oliveiras" is 200m up the gravel road on the right.
